Telehealth continues to grow around the world. The market is expected to grow as more hospitals and healthcare facilities bring this technology online. Telehealth has the potential to reduce healthcare costs, improve patient outreach and health outcomes, and change the way providers treat their patients.

No matter where you are along your professional journey — whether you are a novice preceptor or one with experience, there is evidence to support the benefits of preceptor development. We hope this course provides some valuable information for you as you work with our students and guide their development as advanced practice nurses.

Thus, we want to extend a warm welcome from the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing of the University of Arkansas. EMSON’s partnership with you and with your facility is an essential part of the education of our students. It is our goal to support your role as a preceptor and to provide you with helpful resources.

This is a preceptor development course for preceptors of nursing students to teach basic skills of telehealth etiquette, effective patient encounters and virtual examination techniques. The course consists of six self-paced learning modules, a learning assessment and course evaluation.

  1. History of Telehealth
  2. Patient Engagement
  3. Patient Evaluation
  4. Systems Examinations
  5. Remote Evaluations, continued
  6. Best Practices in Telehealth

Taking our test and evaluating the program are required after completing the modules.

No contact hours have been awarded this program, but you will receive a certificate of completion upon submission of the learning assessment and course evaluation. The Center for Telehealth, Innovation, Education and Research (C-TIER) offers national certification for telehealth educator.
