A number of resources for preceptors are available from the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.

Support and guidance is also available to preceptors through the free, self-paced course EMSON Preceptors: Shaping Future Providers. Modules address topics such as effective precepting strategies and communication with the student. Completion of this course earns 2.5 nursing contact hours.

Another important course is the EMSON Preceptor Telehealth Course, found on this website. It comprises six modules covering the history of telehealth, patient engagement, remote examinations and best practices in virtual technology. Completion of this course will allow students to provide virtual patient encounters with their preceptor.
